Meet our 2008 scholarship winner!

The Private Colleges & Universities Community Service Scholarship Program for Multicultural Students

Private Colleges & Universities magazine has established a scholarship administered by the Private Colleges & Universities Scholarship Foundation to help capable multicultural students finance their education at a private college or university. Applications are welcome from all eligible candidates. Each application will be reviewed carefully, and from all applications received, up to five (5) winners will be chosen.



Who is eligible?

Any student of color who is currently a resident of the U.S. or its territories and who plans to enroll as a freshman in a baccalaureate degree program in Fall 2009 at one of the colleges and universities listed on our website (www.privatecolleges.com) is eligible.

Apply now for a Private Colleges & Universities Community Service Multicultural Student Scholarship by filling out the Application Form. The deadline is April 1, 2009. Photocopies of the form are acceptable. Additional forms may be obtained online at http://www.alloyeducation.com/mc_scholarship/mc_scholarship_app.pdf or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the address listed below.

Important eligibility dates

Application deadline: April 1, 2009
Notification of semi-finalists: April 30, 2009
Notification of winners: May 31, 2009



How are Scholarship winners selected?

From among those who apply, semi-finalists and winners will be selected on the basis of their academic merit (as reflected in their transcript, class rank, and GPA) and on their service to their community. Please refer to the next section for a list of the materials that must be sent with the Application.



How to apply
  • Complete the PC&U Application Form
  • Send a statement of your community service activities - include your involvement in activities, fundraisers, volunteer work in outreach programs, hospitals, or shelters; participation in political campaigns; or community initiatives such as beautification or recycling.
  • Send an official copy of your current high school transcript to:

What will the amount of the scholarships be?

All PC&U community service scholarships will be one-year, non-renewable scholarships in the amount of $2,000.
